La Roche Posay Toleriane Eye Cream My thoughts

I've been on the hunt for a eye cream that doesn't make my eyes sting, water or puffy when I wake up in the morning. I wanted to love the Origins ginzing but unfortunately my eyes did not.

Enter:
La Roche Posay "Toleriane Ultra Eye Contour"

la roche posay toleriane eye cream fluid beauty blog review

It seems everything I try from La Roche Posay I love and my skin agrees too! It is so gentle with the minimum amount of chemicals and unnecessary ingredients in. Their redness serum is brilliant have been using that for a good while now.

First of all it comes in a super hygenic close pump dispenser bottle meaning no dust or bacteria etc can get to it.

Upon application, it feels soothing and you can barely feel it on - it's that light! Not a thick heavy cream which you feel you have to work into the skin, this just sinks right in. I would say it is suitable for both morning and night. No fragrance which is great and best of all no stinging eyes or watering and I wake up puffy-less (if there is such a word?!)

I take it on my ring ringers and gently pat under my eyes and take it up around my brow. It is such a lovely gentle eye cream that I would imagine that even the most sensitive eyes would tolerate it.

I got mine from www.escentual.com

Whilst I was shopping for this eye cream I also spotted La Roche posay also have a lovely light moisturiser in the same range which is super light and my sensitive skin loves. A lovely alternative to heavy moisturiser, great in the morning under foundation as it sinks in quickly and doesn't leave a greasy or tacky residue.

Have you tried the La Roche Posay Toleriane range yet?

Brown Waterline Eye-liner that stays put!

I was a woman on a mission, on the hunt for a brown / bronze shade eye-liner that actually STAYS put in the water-line!!

Whilst I love a bold black line along my water-line, sometimes it's nice to mix it up and have a softer shade. Brown I find still does a great job of defining your eyes but somehow isn't as 'in your face' as black. It gives a softer subtle definition with still the hint of smoky-ness.

Here are my top picks that I love to use on those days when a black outline is just a bit too bold....

L to R: Urban decay whiskey / Mac Teddy / Eye of horus Bronze Amulet

MAC's Teddy Eye Kohl

I found this when I was searching on google for an brown eye-liner that stays on the water-line. It seems this is a very popular alternative to black and can be used on both lower and upper lash line to define and add a nice brown with a slight bronze hue. It is good to apply and stays on giving a nice definition to the eye. With a very slight bronze tint to it making it slightly warmer and a softer shade to wear.

Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner in 'Whiskey'

As you can imagine I spent a good while swatching at the Urban Decay counter, as their sheer choice of eye-liner colours is amazing! And a little bit over-whelming!! I finally settled on the shade whiskey as it was brown but had a slightly bronze shade to it without the glitter or shimmer (as i wanted it for my water-line, glitter irritates my eyes!). As with all Urban Decay eye-liners they are lovely and creamy to apply but once set they don't budge, so be quick to blend out before it sets!!

Eye of Horus Goddess Pencil - Bronze Amulet

I love this eye pencil for a more softer subtle look, great for a day time. Looks really pretty and has a smudger on the end so you could also use all over the eye lid blended in. A beautiful shade of bronzey-brown, and lovely and creamy to apply but also stays put, which is what you want it to do.

MAC Technachol eye-liner (not pictured)
Just wanted to add this one in as a sort of fail and here's why....
This one I picked up on a whim, (not something I normally do - as I usually research before I buy) but anyway I had high hopes because after asking the mac assistant "does it definitely stay put in the water-line". She assured me it did. I get home, not only does it not stay on, it doesn't even go ON my water-line. I'm mentioning to prevent anyone else purchasing for the same purpose. It's not a total waste as I use it for a pop of colour to line the upper lashes.

So there you have it my brown eye-liners for when a black is a bit too.. well black!

Clinique Sonic Face Brush - My thoughts

My thoughts on Clinique's Sonic Face Cleansing Brush.

clinique sonic cleansing brush review beauty blog

Before Christmas over on twitter I was lucky enough to win a competition I took part in for Clinique's new sonic brush from Clinique.

I have given it a fair trial and so wanted to share my thoughts on this cheaper alternative to the clarisonic.

First of all having never tried the Clarisonic I can't really make a fair comparison but what I can do is tell you what iIlike about the Clinique brush and why.

I love that it has a 30 seconds switch off. Without this feature I know I would forget and end up over scrubbing my face not intentionally of-course!! So thank goodness for the switch off.

The brush has an angle top bit to make getting in the crooks by your nose much easier. It really feels like it is deep cleaning all the dirt and yucky stuff. The whole unit is sleek and nice to hold whilst is waterproof - just in case!

The trick with any type of brush cleanser is to build up gradually, you don't want to end up looking red raw.
I started off using it once a week then graduated to every few nights, which I feel is enough for my sensitive skin to give it a good clean without over doing it.

Oh and my last favourite thing about this is I feel like I am using a giant toothbrush... but on my face!!
And with that incite-ful knowledge I will love you and leave you!
