Eye of Horus 'Bronze Amulet' Goddess Eye-Liner : A swatch & Review

Eye of Horus Goddess Eye-Liner Pencil * - Bronze Amulet
A Swatch & Review

Lately have been on the hunt for a softer brown as an alternative for a black eye-liner which can sometimes feel a bit too much for day time.
Have been trialling this offering from Eye of Horus that was sent for me to review, for the past couple of weeks. I wanted to give it a good trial to make sure it worked before I recommended it and have to say I love it.
I have been reaching for this over my usual Bare Minerals Round the clock eye-liner and we all know how much I love that eye-liner!

This is a truly hard working eye pencil that stays put all day. Something I look for in an eye-liner and is essential to me as my eyes have a tenancy to water. Still soft and creamy to apply not at all scratchy or hard. Doesn't drag on your skin as some pencils can.
I use it to line my upper lash line sometimes with a mini flick at the end as-well as using it to line my lower water-line. This is what impresses me most about this pencil is its ability to stay along the water-line. I've lost count of the numerous eye pencils I have bought in the hope that it will a. make a line in the water-line and b. stay there even if my eyes are a little bit watery oh and c. not smudge all over if I accidentally (forget) and rub my eye. Am I asking too much? Well apparently not as this pencil does it all for me.

Eye of Horus is an Australian brand of cosmetics which are inspired by the ancient egyptian formulas. Designed for sensitive eyes, using natural ingredients and paraben free.

Best of all their eye liner pencils contain Moringa Oil which is the "Oil of the Pharaohs" It was claimed to be beautifying and regenerating. Nice to know that as you line your eyes that its packed with skin caring benefits. Win-Win!

This is such a pretty bronze / soft brown copper shade. A gorgeous shade with a slight shimmer, no hint of glitter which can be irritating to sensitive eyes.

A dream to apply and once set it really doesn't budge - until you remove with make-up remover that is! You get about 30 seconds to blend then it's set. Waterproof as-well as being smudgeproof too!

I used this eye liner to line my water line and line my lashes.

Can see this bronze eye-liner pencil being my staple this summer as I can see it holding up even during the hot weather.

Avaliable from beautybay where there are several exciting shades to choose from!
I have my eye on the purple shade - Jewel Amethyst and the Lazuli Blue looks like a very exciting shade to try too!!

Awaken the goddess within!!

Maybelline Sensational Mascara - Benefits Roller Lash Dupe

New in from Maybelline comes their Sensational Mascara!
Maybelline Sensational Mascara - Benefits Roller Lash Dupe

A lash multiplying mascara. Making lashes look visibly multiplied and fuller.
And a fantastic dupe for Benefit's Roller Lash Mascara!

When Benefit released their new mascara as a sample with elle magazine, I loved it. Then I heard there was a dupe for less than half the price! (an added bonus included in boots 3 for 2) I snapped it up so here are my thoughts...

First of all I adore the packaging. Maybelline's 'The Rocket' mascara is my absolute drug-store favourite and this has similar curvy packaging with the added sexiness of rose gold instead of blue. Have to say as far as packaging can be sexy this hits the spot and does catch your eye on the make-up stand.

The wand is a plastic curved design. It has lots of bristles that fan out, ensuring as you apply all your lashes are covered and get combed at the same time.

The wands are very similar. Benefit's Roller Lash is the top wand with Maybelline's offering the wand at the bottom.

As for the actual mascara I'll let you be the judge here are my before and after photos:

I have very straight lashes and always need to use eyelash curlers, but even without the curlers this mascara still performs quite well on my lashes. I am seriously impressed with the staying power of this mascara. My lashes looked lengthened and much thicker and stay that way till I remove when I get home. I didn't experience flaking and have to say I really like the wand as it really helps to separate and comb through the lashes individually.

The only thing is, I wish that this came in waterproof, only because I prefer to wear waterproof mascara on the account of the unpredictable weather here in the UK.

Verdict: I have been reaching for this mascara over the rocket, so it seems this is my new favourite providing it's not raining outside!

Your Cake is in the post!!

I know I am a Beauty Blogger but...
When Bakerdays.com got in touch and asked me to try their letterbox cake, I just couldn't resist, I said yes!!

Two of my favourite things colliding:
Blogging and Cake!!!

The hardest part was narrowing down the choice!
There was a cake with stars all over would have been perfect but the butterfly one just caught my eye, it was far too pretty to resist!

I have to admit though, the thought of a cake coming through the post filled me first with excitement!! Obviously!

But then dread too…
"Will the postman squash it? Will it go through the letterbox? Will it arrive in a big crumby mess?"

I really needn't have worried as it was packaged very securely:
And arrived in one piece.

On a card, wrapped in cellophane, in a tin and an outer envelope/box with the address on.

This really couldn't have arrived on a better day!!
I was feeling rubbish from a nasty cold and very sorry for myself. I couldn't help but smile when the postman popped it through the letterbox and I opened the cutest tin to find a delicious smelling cake with my blog’s name on it!

bakerdays.com letterbox cake post design personalise review blog

Surprising that special someone with a thoughtful cake to let them know you are thinking of them, couldn't be easier.

They fit through the letterbox (no need to wait in for delivery) and truly will make that persons day.

There are literally dozens of designs to choose from here
Get well, Congratulations, New baby, Christening, Holy Communion, Birthday (of course), Celebrity, Humour, Sport and Children's Cakes from 'Frozen' to '1D' to Super-Heroes!!
Have to admit I was very tempted by the 'Disney Frozen Olaf cake' - I had to have a quiet word with myself seeing as I am ... ahem! - a lot older than the age it says on the cake (lets put it that way!!)

If they don’t have it, there is always the option to create your own photo or message cake personalise the message.
Perhaps a sorry, a belated birthday, going away cake or Just because!
(who needs a birthday to have cake? -I don’t!).

Oh and did I mention they also do cupcakes? So you can get a name, age or even a photo on them!!
Great for parties, in the office or a thank you to a team of people. Cup-cakes

The Letterbox Cake however, is the perfect size for 1-4 people, but if it was for one person the cake keeps very nicely in the re-usable tin for up-to 14 days.
(I can guarantee it shan't be sticking around for that long in my house!!).

Mine was a Chocolate Chip Sponge Cake made with Belgian chocolate and was utterly delicious!!
But you can also select from vanilla sponge, fruit cake, gluten wheat free cake as-well as dairy free cake!

bakerdays.com letterbox cake post design personalise review blog

This idea is genius, for those of us who can’t be there in person on someone’s special day, you can let them know you are thinking of them. Much better than a card as you then get to eat it!! Trust me it tastes so good!

It cheered me up and if I didn't know it was coming, I definitely would have been in tears (of joy!).

So what you waiting for? head over to www.bakerdays.com where you will just be in awe of the sheer choice.
Make that loved one's day!

Burberry Kisses Lipstick: Nude Beige 01 Swatch and Review

Burberry Kisses Lipstick: No 1 Nude Beige
#burberrykisses

Last week with the launch of Burberry's new line of lipsticks "Burberry Kisses", they very cleverly gave away 1g samples over on twitter using the hashtag #burberrykisses . The catch? You had to be nominated by someone in order to claim your lippy.

By the time I got round to clicking, there was a choice of 2 shades: I chose No: 1 Nude Beige

A few days later a cute little white box landed on my doorstep and inside the cutest lipstick sample ever!

It even had their signature etching on the bullet as-well as the outer lid. The poshest lipstick sample i've ever seen!

The formula is spot on, with it being creamy and a dream to apply. Very moisturising on the lips, and comfortable to wear. No notable fragrance which is a welcome change. The only thing I would change is the shade I picked. With it being a nude beige I find it does wash me out and make me appear a bit ill! But then that's just because the shade is very light against my skin and very similar to my natural lip colour.
With another 27 shades to choose from Burberry really have a shade for every occasion.
View them here: www.burberry.com

Have you tried the Burberry kisses sample lipstick yet? What did you think?

Baby Powder or Thunderstorm What will you choose?!

Baby Powder or Thunderstorm, that is the question?!
A few days ago on twitter, Library of Fragrance were offering samples of their two most popular fragrances so that we could vote for our favourite scent for boots fragrance awards.
Library of fragrance are a New York based perfumers, who only launched in the UK a mere 7 months ago with a vast array of scents to choose from 101 to be exact they offer a unique perspective to the definition of perfume. Their simple fragrances allow you to layer and create you very own bespoke signature scent.

The two most popular are:
"Baby Powder" and "Thunderstorm" Fragrance
And I can see why!!

They arrived this morning and oh my! They both smell so good! I can't decide which one to vote for. I get the impression that the baby powder is for females and Thunderstorm is for males however I can see me wearing both!
I spritz-ed the 'Baby Powder' first on my wrists, and it smells EXACTLY like Johnson & Johnson talcum powder. It immediately transported me back to when my children were babies! Without the sleepless nights and stinky nappies!! Evoked fond memories of cuddles after bath time.
This fragrance has a soothing, calming and very comforting effect and it is a very smooth clean scent to wear. Not too over powering. Subtle and you can't help but smile when you smell it. I can see me wearing this scent a lot this spring!

So now onto the 'Thunderstorm' fragrance. I love that feeling and scent before a thunderstorm - you can literally smell it in the air! You know there is a storm a brewing!
This scent is so refreshing, It smells exactly like rain soaked cut grass mixed with earth and soil.
But not in a "you smell like dirt" way! It is lovely and reminds me of being in the garden before a thunderstorm, taking in all the smells of the garden trees, grass and soil. I know this is probably a male scent but I can really see myself wearing this, so I would describe as a unisex fragrance.

So it is a very close call as I really do enjoy both the scents but the one I shall be voting for is of course .....(drum roll please!)....
"Baby Powder"
Who could resist the innocence and fond memories this fragrance brings.

Have you tried any of the Library of Fragrance Scents?
Apparently there are over 100 to choose from including 'Play-doh' 'Pizza' 'Apple pie' 'Paper back' 'Rain' 'Saw-dust' and 'Snow' to name but a few!!

Avaliable at The library of fragrance.com and 31 of them are at www.boots.com where they are currently on offer 2 for £25.

I've my sights firmly set on Vanilla Ice Cream next!!

March 2015 Favourites Round-up

End of March favourites round-up!

mac brave soar lipstick lip liner all that glitters satin taupe eye-shadow

Well this month I have been really loving wearing Macs 'Brave' lipstick paired with 'Soar' lip-liner.

mac brave lipstick soar lip liner beauty blog review kylie jenner

The two make a pretty everyday shade that make my lips appear fuller. Review here The-lip-duo-for-fuller-lips.

This past month I started to use Avene Trineal, which is a spot treatment. I suffer from annoying breakouts around my chin area whilst some spot treatments help they never really completely make them go away. So far, this has really helped to reduce the severity of the breakouts and I am very impressed. Fingers crossed it continues to work!

On my eyes this past month I have mainly been using MAC's 'All that glitters' eye-shadow, with 'Satin taupe' blended in the crease. I then line my water-line with Urban decay's 24/7 eye pencil in 'Zero' which is a jet black shade that stays put. Simple eye look but looks like you have made a bit of an effort.

TV

So glad that 'The Big Bang Theory' is back on our screens, I look forward to Thursdays @ 8.30pm as the show never fails to make me laugh!!
Have started to read 'Gone girl' by Gillian Flynn. I really want to see the film but always like to read the books to films first! That way I can imagine it in my head then compare it to the film. Anyone else do that?

So that's it for March, excited for April and hopefully an appearance of the sun!
